Does anyone else think that the reason MS were able to/decided to get rid of DE is because they know that some better backup solution is going to be baked into Windows 8/Win Server 20?? Maybe they know that they will be able to take advantage of this either with a Service Pack or in the next major release of Home Server and so it was decided that porting DE to Win Server 2008 wasn't deemed worthwhile? They just can't talk about it as it is would be giving the game away about one of Win 8 big features???

Windows Home Server 2011 Hits MSDN. Backup for Windows Home Server v2. Really cool person would toss the iso's for WHS 2011 on usenet or a torrent. WHS 2011.[ISO] torrent download, torrent hash is 932a0e3b9b1ccf6b8cdf642ce92b79.

MSDN and TechNet are subscription services from Microsoft that include licensing for many of their products, for development and testing purposes. If you Google TechNet or MSDN and go to those sites you can find subscription pricing there.

This would NOT be cost effective if ALL you want is WHS 2011. OEM (original equipment manufacturer) disks of WHS 2011 are not on the market yet and as far as I know the price hasn’t been announced. When it is available you will probably have to find it at an online retailer. I don’t think I ever saw an OEM WHS V1 disk at a brick and mortar store. WHS was never meant for the general public to install and use. So there was never a true retail release.

Pro Engineer Torrent Download. Thankfully the OEM release was available to the public for hobbyist and system builders. The biggest difference between OEM and Retail is that you only get minimum support from MS with OEM releases. The idea being that the end user would go their system builder for support. HP for example with their Media smart servers. I’m sure you will see a posting on this site when the OEM release is available.

Not that it mean much but the OEM price for WHS V1 was around $100.00.
