I've always assumed the idea was that you hit the regular brake and it would do whatever it was the self-adjuster did. I do know that it's a good idea to use the parking brake on a regular basis, though, so the cable doesn't seize up. Install/use the legit plugins. You'll have most (if not all) you need to do great sounding mixes. As a side benefit, you won't have to wade thru scores of old plugins you'll rarely (if ever) use. BTW, If you update to Sonar X1, you'll also have the Pro Channel. Which gives you even more quality/legit processing. Why not post your request for help on the Waves forum?
